1. i am writing to escape, yes, i have essays to do but no, this is not procrastination, evasion, fear of homework, &c &c
2. wow ___, not writing in stanzas? no, i am fully capable of writing stuff, like this.
here then, a tale of an EPIC JOURNEY two former __ Signallers took to, to see the world, or okay, a slice of earth. along the way i read Che Guevara's the Motorcycle Diaries and uh, though our trip's not as awesome as his, it felt epic, to me at least. still, this is not a story of Legendary proportions. it's a humble story of four countries, three border crossings, two guys, and a month of mindless travelling.
it started with a tweet. the other guy was like, who wants to go on an epic journey with me! well okay, it wasn't termed epic journey then, it was like, uh, called something else boring. so i replied here, pick me pick me, and then the planning starts. Two dinners planning, and for those who watched the Motorcycle Diaries movie ours was kinda noobish. we didn't have a giant ass map of SEA. we had printouts yes. lots of printouts. someone's been using, during office hours, ______ , _____ and ______ to ______ research. was he paid? oh yes. i must be honest. he did most of the planning. me? i'm not the uh, planning kind. one of the most influential books i've read in my life is A Perfect Mess (http://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Mess-Benefits-Cluttered-Fly/dp/0316114758). thing i've learnt from the book: Navy Seals live by the motto: Plan Once, Plan Twice. i, though not technically a Navy Seal, too live by that motto. the other guy's also not a Navy Seal, but he's not a perfect mess either, so he plans. heck, he lives to plan. so he recites train time tables, the budget (yes he kept a record of daily expenditure), locations for border crossings, numbers, more times, dates, he printed out this uh, timetable thing, like from an Adam Khoo workshop, and too came up with this, super detailed itinerary. i was in charge of accommodation. bookings? oh no, just uh, printed this list of possible places we could stay. when we were on the ground we'd go find the guesthouses. more on this later. i must emphasise: Plan Once, Plan Twice.
for any epic journey planning, try http://www.travelfish.org/ there's tons of stuff here. what to eat, what to do, where to stay, &c &c.
