touchdown at seven, got off plane to see cute viking log house, with those oriental roof things, of an airport. here i must confess, rocks to be s___rean, show redness of a passport, GO! didn't have to apply visa and other whatnots. impressive passport strength, pride there? hmmm, a tinge perhaps. was immediately given first quest: grab an immigration card, paper, thing. fool of a took was i, filled in both arrival and departure with same details. yes, i know, such mistakes correctional only with hara kiri. frantic run about, lost in translation at that, trying to find another immigration card. in the end i handed them that which was befouled by incompetence, and well, they took it, chopped, and go. astonishing. with that, the border crossing (later on) from cambodia to vietnam went fine too. hmm, curious. remember crossing borders in a bus. details on the departure card was a flight number.
took a tuk tuk to Mandalay Inn, and yes, good job ___, reservations
were under my name. here i must promote this guesthouse. very good location, away from the market, the backpacker's alley, commands a decent view of the area. it takes five minutes to the market, backpacker's alley, and bout, fifteen, perhaps, to Angkor area. Looks expensive but not. also packs a tourist office. The first day went fine, usual tourist stuff, walked around, had some khmer chow, visited some temples. Went to this Peace Cafe, hippie like place that features a meditation hut, vegetarian food, fruit juice, fair trade shop, butterfly garden, &c &c. the night ended with a walk around the night market, dinner at some eating place beside the roads. for 1USD you coulda buy some decent food from these stalls.
uh, the other pictures of day one aren't too exciting.
most pictures are taken by the other guy.
i'm not much of a photo guy, sooooooo, guess i won't be seen much.
Moment of the Day: checking in.
